Makerere University, in collaboration with Tree Adoption Uganda and supported by the Fogarty International Center (FIC) of the National Institutes of Health, is thrilled to announce the upcoming “Climate and Health Data Science Short Course & Ideathon.”
Event Overview: This unique program is designed to equip selected Master’s students with advanced skills in analyzing and interpreting climate, health, agricultural, and food security data. The initiative is part of the Data Science Research Training to Strengthen Evidence-Based Health Innovation, Intervention, and Policy (MakDARTA) program.
What to Expect: Participants will engage in hands-on exercises and case studies to uncover patterns, trends, and correlations that inform impactful solutions to climate-related health challenges. This course will not only boost your data management skills but also enhance your research capabilities in line with your academic and professional goals.
Course Details:
- Mode of Delivery: Hybrid (Online lectures and in-person ideathon)
- Eligibility: Open to Master’s students from related fields such as Computer Science, Health Informatics, Climate Change, and Applied Meteorology.
- Requirements: Applicants must have a dissertation concept related to Climate and Health.

- A 2-page research concept.
- An admission letter.
- A recommendation letter from your supervisor.
